Through a combination of training, intel analysis and experience, Valor is prepared to address threats of terror at all times and from all sources.

Strategies to Prevent Threats of Terror

On-Site Readiness

Through unannounced weekly inspections, on-going knowledge and skill assessments, and quarterly Regional Vice President operational audits, Valor maintains on-site readiness. As a function of on-site mall management, Valor requires all security staff to partner with property management, local first responders and other involved parties to conduct live drills and table-top exercises designed to improve the quality and efficacy of response and reaction.

Real-Time Intelligence

Fusion centers located in each state serve as the primary focal point for the gathering, analysis and distribution of threat-related information. Valor has established relationships and communicates daily with these agencies. We employ a full-time intelligence analyst and proprietary software to provide our clients with actionable, real-time information regarding emerging threats and trends. Valor receives and distributes alerts from ASIS, AHLA and other sources; these alerts flow directly to our clients.

Recognizing Suspicious Activity

Valor understands that security takes the lead in the detection and prevention of unwanted or suspicious activity. Therefore, Valor officers receive constant training in the recognition and prevention of this type of activity. Valor security management and officers also leverage existing relationships with other members of the facilities team, e.g. housekeeping, engineering, etc. to promote a retail environment of vigilance and safety.

SAFETY Act Certification

Valor is certified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the provisions of the SAFETY Act. According to SAFETY Act regulations, our customers benefit from our certified technology and are also protected against liability resulting from an act of terror. The real world advantage of this certification is translated to each and every retail property in which we operate every day.

Achieving SAFETY Act Certification

The SAFETY Act (Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies) is an important federal law that encourages the creation and sale of anti-terror products and services to help protect the nation's citizens. It was enacted by Congress following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, as part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002, Public Law 107-296. Congress has stated that the purpose of the SAFETY Act is to "ensure that the threat of liability does not deter potential manufacturers or sellers of anti-terrorism technologies from developing and commercializing technologies that could save lives."

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded Valor Security Services SAFETY Act Certification for its security services. To achieve SAFETY Act certification, Valor had to demonstrate that its services can in some way deter, defend against, identify, respond to or mitigate an act of terrorism. Valor passed the rigorous review of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to earn certification.

Valor's SAFETY Act Certification provides significant liability protections to the company and its customers. These protections would come into play in the event of an act of terrorism at a site where Valor's approved services have been deployed.
